The lines of Kavignar Vaali, the voice of Hariharan and the music of Himesh have contributed equally for the sucess of this song. This song is a milesstone in the Tamil film music.

    3. Santana

Saivam Endru Paarthaal Theivam Theriyathu - what sh..!!!

    4. Sathish

      Nice lyrics

    5. Sathish

One more time vaali proves his skill.. Hariharan voices adds more sweetness to vaali’s lyrics.. And Himesh music for first tamil film is more successful..

    6. Anonymous

Santana - you must understand the context - a shaivite king wants to eliminate vaishnavism and hence punishes a vaishnava(kamal). So, the song line goes as “Saivam Endru Paarthaal Theivam Theriyathu”

    7. sam

Kamalhassan-the only living legend of Indian Cinema-1st two lines of this song are worth more than the stories of many tamil masala flicks..kamal-THE GENIUS…

    9. Gowrising

Saivam Endru Paarthaal Theivam Theriyathu — this is not correct, but those lines hurts many… Valli sir can put up things in some ways.

      hey guys,
since kamal roles is vaishnavite he is singing like that . don take in wrong sense. Even all will think like that only. Treat as a movie and not a religious issue friends. The songs exactly suits the scenes . See in the movie and tell my friends. comments welcome. But be friendly and not too religious

Hey guys, why all are taking it so religious, its just a film to enjoy. pls dont mix ur life with that. vungala pol people erukra varai, jadhi sandai theeradhu

    15. Swami

For all the people who are preaching peace for religion, I would like to say that the comments are against Kamal and his way of portraying a particular sect of people as special. These comments are not against Vishnu or Vaishnavites. Just for the sake of gaining publicity and money, one should not take movies like this. KAMAL although you are a genius, we can’t accept such movies!

    16. Balaji

Kamal sir, u keep rocking… people will keep talking all sh.. in the name of religion. There r only few people who can understand u and iam one. People who keep blabering with the name of religion, go ahead with it. we dont care….

    18. Vijay

The Song is gud… But it hurts the feelings of Shaivites… It Luks as if the song is aimed at them even though it’s not. Thw words make it luk lyk that. Vaali sir can do better than this.

    19. Shankar

      Guys,
      Naatil Undu Aayiram Rajaraajar Thaan
      Rajanukku Raajan Intha Rangaraajan Thaan….
This doesnt mean Bragadeshwarar and the Ranganathar alone!

Kamal hassan and Vaali trying to dedicate this to Writer Sujatha. His real name is Rangarajan. So many Rajans are there, but No one is like Rangarajan(Sujatha)!!!
Thats true! Kamal and Vaali are genius!

    20. Loosu

      Cool

and see hw hard it is

anyways i posted ur lyrics on my page just
      to get u bak :P

      Now we’re equal

    21. Lakshmi N Kannan

Okay, first of all treat a movie song like the way it should be. If I understand right, a vaishnavite is singing against a saivist king. So the song has to be supportive of vaishnavites and naturally against saivists. If you were an Indian in the pre-independent era fighting against the british, you cannot stop yourself from cursing britishers. As far as I can see, vaali has been very decent in his choice of words. I enjoy listening to the song.

    22. Suresh

      Gowrising,
      Saivam Endru Paarthaal Theivam Theriyathu
why this line hurts many.. I cant understand the meaning.. anyone knows what he trying to say…?

    23. Velu

This song was picturised as it happened in 12th century. In those time we were like that only. For sure this is a song sequence and there will be a message in this film after this song. So wait and watch the movie before writing your comments against the movie.

    24. S. shanmuga priya

      Verasaivargal Munnal Engal Veeravainavam Thorkathu

though this line raises my BP the next coming

Mannan Solluku Anji Enrum Maerkae Sooriyan Udikkathu

lines cools it a little but i couldnt completely be out of that mood
there may not (i am not sure)be a vaishanava king but there are almost 98% of vaishnavas who look at saivas as untouchables

try and see there are vaishanvas who hurt saivas too and pls Mr vali you too write song from their situation

It was just recording of History, before the advent of Christianity and Islam How we tamilians were fighting with each other in the name of GOD.what is wrong when you try to portray history as it is.At least in future we will not fight in the name of GOD.

    27. SUDHIR

      Nanbargale,

This movie just depicts what happened in the 12th century. We’ve had all this in our history; what is more, even Vaishnavites used to fight amongst themselves (Thenkales and Vadakales).

As some of you’ve already stated, please watch this as an art form. Our thoughts and maturity levels have definitely improved from 12th century (thanks to our predecessors and their experience that passed on to us), so please stop negative things on this. As most of us have already realized, there is only one GOD but many paths (religions) to follow and reach him/her.

    28. kareena

hey this lyrics r really gr8…but himesh had copied the music 4rom one vikram’s movie..startin of the song…

    29. anonymous

This Song is great. This song has no relevants in this movie. But Kamal had well said everything through a Shaiva Lyrics writer. Kudos to you Kamal.

    30. Srinath

      Hello Kamal & friends!!!!

Vaali’s original name is rangarajan…. both are vaishnavaites and promoting vaishnavism… indirectly…. In this 20th sentury The line ‘Verasaivargal Munnal Engal Veeravainavam Thorkathu’ makes no sence here…. this songs and the first 10min in the movie has no relevance for rest of the story and could have well been avaoided…. instead of hurting…… ppls…. sentiments…. Kamal could ‘ve said the story in a better way than as a fancy dress competition….. there are so many direction mistakes…. like the meeting in the last which made no sense…… y did all the 10 charectors attend the meeting… with soo many big delegates y no police force and tight security????????? at the back……… y shd george bush ask wat id NAcl luks like he is dumb…. how could the villian kamal the foriegner chase independently without knowing the routes????? logic is def… missing………… jus my thought…

    33. Srinivasa Veeraraghava Aiyengar

I’d say i go with swami (post 15). The film has content which is supposed to be harmful to the entire Hindu religion. It may be true that problems like this have arised in many polytheist religions, but it’s still wrong to do so. As somebody said it earlier, we should follow the words of Rajini (hariyum sivanum onnu, adhu ariyaadavan vaayil mannu).

      @ abhilash
“If you see only the idol, you cant see the god,…”

i’ll try posting the english translation as soon as possible

    34. Vijesh Balakrishnan

What has been picturised is a fact that happened in history. The worst part is that Cinema has blown it and made a cheap publicity with it. As wat srinath said this part has no connection to the rest of the movie. It could be better avoided. Film can be watched once if u dont have the problem of tracking things. It lost logic in lot more spaces. Dasavatharam is a colourful Fancy dress competition

    35. Lakshmi Narayanan

gowrising- u r talking about that line which would hurt (saivas) but if u c d song a saiva sadhu comes near to kamal and erases his nama (thiruman), then think about how vaishnavas would get hurt. Vaishnavas have clean habits and rich culture which is very well depicted in that first 15-20 mins of the movie. Its a history that has happened during the 12th century it may be true or may not be. So just enjoy the movie and leave the history.

      Ok guys..
Everyone needs to calm down. Look at the scene/song in the context of the what is happening. Don’t just get angry without sense. There was immense conflict between the Vaishnavas and Saivas in the 12th century. Can anybody deny it? No. This song is being portrayed from the point of view of a man who was a Vaishnava being punished. Are you expecting the song to be neutral? When this kind of emotion is being shown, this sort of song portrays the true feelings of that man. That character is a devotee of Vishnu. I stress the word CHARACTER. If you can’t distinguish between the character portrayed and the actor portraying him, then you don’t know what a movie is.

    39. Dinesh Kumar

wow wow wowowwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Himesh’s masterpiece is nothing but this song only

    40. Manithan

      Hi all,
Dont you all feel ashamed to say that you are an Indian. Even a film , a piece of art is not seen as art.It is seen as something to be fought for.True, as the english men had said when they transferred the power to our hands that ” There were no concept of a United India, There were only 526 fueding princly states which we brought together. You were only united to throw us out. The moment you are on your own , you will go back to the old fighting 526 or a lot more pieces”. So friends Would you all need some Hitler to put sense to your brains ? somebody like “anniyan” ? You have lots of other issues which should be debated. Dont waste your time on worthless debates as this one. If you need to debate, debate on the fate of poverty, literacy. Do you know how america became so powerful ? There was no relegious persecutions. This country will only prosper when we all through the idols, the beaurecracy and narrow politics in the sea and light the jyothi in our hearts and minds. Bharatha mannin shathru pakisthano Chinayo illai, ovvorutharudeiyum ulle thaan irukku. Antha nuzhanju kayattrakkaranai thurathukintrathu thaan un manitha janmathin lachiyam”. Aadaram koduthu thaan kidakkum. Vaazhungal Vaazhavidungal. Ithu Onnum mudiyathu enraal naasama pongal.

    41. Gowri

I felt the need to participate in this conversation. Yes, Vaali’s statement about Saivism bothered me a little bit, but as has been said–firstly let us examine the context of the song. Kamal’s character is a Vaishnavite priest who is attempting to keep his Govindarajan from being immersed in the ocean by Raja Rajan’s militant Saivite (great) Grandson, I think it is. For him to criticise that militancy, is it wrong to criticize the character?

Or is it even wrong to criticize Kamal’s own distaste for religious fundamentalism? After all, the guy who is Andal (Asin)’s father, and the character of Andal herself, are both terribly fundamentalist in their own ways, to the point where Kamal, in the guise of an old woman, turns to the man carrying a Srinivasan selai and tells him to stop being so militant because (s)he is grieving for his/her dead son, so what does it matter whether Srinivasa is near the body or not?

In addition, look at the line AFTER “Saivam endru paarthal deivam theriyaadhu”–he continues to sing, “Deivam endru paarthal samayam kidayaadhu.” Isn’t he saying here that if you can see God, regardless of what form he or she may come in, then you don’t look at the differences between people. Not anywhere in this song, to augment that, does Vaali suggest that Srinivasa Perumal is the only god.

Also, for those who say that the 12th-century episode fails to tie into the rest of the film…I think it ties in beautifully. Kamal is intelligent enough to make sure that a film in which he is playing ten roles is not merely a vehicle for him to show off his acting abilities (he doesn’t need a special vehicle for that!) In the tsunami scenes at the beginning of the film, we see: a group of Christians, a group of Muslims, a group of Sikhs, all discussing their losses and what they are thankful for in the aftermath of such a disaster. They refer to God, to Allah, to Guru Nanak (I think, I don’t know enought about Sikhism so forgive me if I make a mistake). In the Vishnu Dasavadharam, all 10 Avathars are different facets of the same god, yes? So in the same way, despite the conflicting interests, these ten ‘avathars’ of Kamal are ten different facets of the same man. For me, what Kamal is trying to say is that unity is required for a common goal to be reached–and by beginning with the Saivite-Vaishnavite conflicts of the 12th century, what better way to highlight the differences between people (in Tamil Nadu in particular) than by pointing out that in the same religion, those who worship two different gods can combine?

    42. Prashanth

Question to you all? Why the Villain character(Nazar) in Anbe Sivam is depicted as Saivite??????

    43. P.PAVENTHAN

      DHASAVATHARAM
On the view of caring, loving and helping persons

      Good morning everybody….
I have read some controversial commentaries about the movie “Dhasavatharam”.
Here I have the responsibility to create a proper view for some the viewers of Kamal’s movie, who got those controversial statements.
Why r u getting tension about the words in the song “Kallai mattum kandaal….”

Kamal is very clear about “GOD IS LOVE & LOVE IS GOD”
Have every body seen the movie “ANBE SHIVAM”? Created by Kamal.
After seeing that movie”ANBE SHIVAM”, it’s meaningless on creating religious and some other issues to blame about the scenes in “DHASAVATHARAM”.

Kamal is not against LORD SHIVA or LORD VISHNU.
He is telling that “Love All” That’s important for a human even though he’s a devotee of GOD, either LORD SHIVA or LORD VISHNU.

In that movie “DHASAVATHARAM”, he has taken a scene which had happened really in the period of ancient Rajarajachola’s kingdom long back.
It was the fault of the king cholan who had not known the word “ANBE SHIVAM”

“Anbu dhan kadavul. Kadavulum adha mattum dhan virumbuvaar apadinnu avan ninachirundha andha maadhiri kodumaiya avan panni irukka maataan.”.

This lead to the cholan’s innocence about GOD and the worship of GOD. He was not a true Saivar. Because every devotee of GOD must be a loving person and a soft person who should not intend to do this kind of terrible things.

Coming to Kamal’s view, Kamal is only against the Rajaraja chola who had done this terrible thing, but not against the devotees of LORD SHIVA.
Kamal knows very well that LORD SHIVA also don’t like this kind of terrible murders carried on by the kings in the name of saivars. Unless he would not take a movie like “ANBE SHIVAM”.

If Kamal really don’t like “LORD SHIVA” and all of the devotees of LORD SHIVA, he would not create a movie like “ANBE SHIVAM”. Otherwise he might name it as “ANBE VENKATACHALAM”.

So don’t confuse to see that part in that movie.
Kamal is an artist (Kalaignan). Not an ordinary artist. He is a well talented artist.

GOD only gave this kind of artist to Tamil Cinema.
Normally GOD will play in every thing like “THIRUVILAIYAADAL”.
He always creates some persons who are opposing him a lot and GOD only will bless him to do that wonderfully. (Eg. NAKKEERAR).
Nobody can forget those happenings like “NETRIKKAN THIRAPPINUM KUTRAM KUTRAME”.
God created these adventures for people not to blindly and merely believe on him but the people must believe on themselves. People should have hope on themselves, should love all, should help the poors, should take care of themselves and other persons.

“Nammala naamale gavanichukitta dhaan Aandavan nammala Gavanichukuvaan”.

Thanthai Periyar who was the first and best opponent of GOD, believe in these things “PAGUTHARIVU”
People must have their own hope, love all, etc… already said by Thanthai Periyar.
He opposed GOD only not to be lazy on believing GOD, not to be hopeless and not to be terrible on believing GOD.
Even those things done by Thanthai Periyar also will be liked by GOD. That’s why till now also in future, people will not forget Periyar and love him so much even though he was a opponent of GOD.
These things clearly explain us that” GOD will always place his blessings to the persons who really love the people, help the poor, working for the people, etc.., even however the persons may be either a devotee of GOD or not believe in GOD, either saivar or vainavar, either rich or poor, etc…
Unless you love all the people, GOD will not bless and hate the persons who are always thinking about themselves such selfish persons.
Now it’s clear about that “GOD is not thinking about him but always thinking about the people”. That’s why he always loves and blesses the people who are loving all the people either they may be “Nathigar” or “Aathigar”.

Even Kamal don’t believe GOD, he believes on “LOVE ALL”. That’s why GOD agrees all of his success creations even it is against GOD. But telling the truth, Kamal is not the opponant of GOD but opponant of the terrible persons like the saiva king.

That’s what he is trying to say. So don’t get angry on Kamal. Because of the King’s activities, so many persons who believe in GOD might become a Naathigar (Not believing GOD). This is the fault of the King and not “LORD SHIVA”. Kamal knows very well about this.
That’s what Kamal is trying to say.

In the climax of the movie, he is telling one thing. “Naan yeppo kadavul illanu sonnen?, Irundha nalla irukkum nu dhaan solren.”
Really can u understand the meaning of this word?

“Kadavul namma koodave yeppavum irukkanum. Kadavul nammala paaka nerla yepavum varanum. Namma koodave oru manidhar madhiri yepavum vaazhndukittu irukkanum. Namakku yedhavadhu kashtam vandha namma kan munnadiye avar adha theerthu vaikkanum. Namma kooda vazhndhu namma kooda nadandhu, namma kooda saapitu, namma kooda sirichu, namma kooda pesi…. Ippadiyellam kadavul namma koodave irukkanumnu ulagathula yella makkalum aasai paduvaanga. Naanum appadi thaan aasai paduren yendha bakthargalaanaalum sari yendha madhathavargalum sari, apadi than aasai paduvaanga. Naanum apadithan aasai paduren. Adhu maadhiri Kamalum appadi than aasai paduraaru.
      Idhula thappu onnum illaye?
Yedhayum nalla kan kondu paarthaal nalladhu dhaan theriyum. Kona kaanoda paartha yellaam kudharkkama dhan theriyum. Idhuvum andha songla vara lines dhane?”

So, if you have any controversial commentary about “Dhasavatharam”, I request you to hear the dialogue in the climax, “Naan yeppa kadavul illanu sonnen?, irundha nalla irukkum nu dhaan solren.” Ok?

So don’t be an obstruction for the creations of such a talented artist.
Because of all those above said things,
You may be treating me as a “Naathigar”. No, I’m believing in GOD.
You may imagine me as vaishnavar, devotee of LORD VISHNU, I’m not either saiva or vaishnava. I usually worship the family of LORD SHIVA (Ganapathy, Murugan, Shiva, Parvathi). I also believe in “LORD VISHNU’s family (Lakshmi Devi and Lord Krishna) also believing in “Lord Brammah” and Sraswati Devi.

Lastly, because of supporting Kamal, you may imagine that I’m a dedicated Kamal fan. Oh. It may be. But I’m a Rajni Fan. But always like to see Kamal’s every movie.
His dedication, his commitment, his intention to do different things, his motivation to highlight Tamil cinema in the world market, last but not least, he, eventhough has the opportunity to be in Hollywood, still being in Tamil cinema to encourage Tamil cinema to be succeed. I like these things very much; even I want to be an assistant to the creations of Kamalhassan.

Kamal is in the side of “Love All”.
God is always in the side of “Love All”.
Everybody should be in the side of “Love All”.

This’s what I’m trying to say. Sorry for saying this much. It’s not a merit certificate for Kamal. Moreover, Kamal has no necessity for having such a merit certificate from an ordinary person like me. So don’t get controversial statements and comments about the movie “Dhasavatharam”.

      With Love,
      P.Paventhan.

All what is said here is not to be a fanatic about being a Sivite. When you say you are a sivite, you fail to see the god, as you give importance to being a Sivite. Wen we talk about a universal God – there is no religion, we all pray to that one god. It is Terrific Lyrics.

Here is the excellent explanation about Chaos theory and Butterfly Effect — from the Sify.com message board.

      FAQs on Dasavatharam

Some guys have claimed they haven’t understood chaos theory which plays such an important part in the film. As a physics student, I’ve decided to explain it a bit so that people can appreciate the brilliance of the film.

      What is Chaos theory ?
Basically a chaotic system is one wherein long term predictions are impossible. Like for example, if I push a car, I know that it is going to move and it will continue to do so if I go on pushing it on and on. However, in a chaotic system, this situation cannot be predicted over a long period of time. Weather, for example, is a chaotic system. No matter how good your instruments are, you simply cannot predict the weather with 100 per cent accuracy over a long term basis and forecast it.

      What is the Butterfly Effect?
It is the most important component of a chaotic system. Basically, small perturbations results in amplifications which completely destroys the original nature of the system and makes prediction impossible. If a butterfly flaps its wings in Africa, it could result in
a cyclone in USA.(Mark the word COULD.) A highly dumbed down explanation of the butterfly effect is in the film Anniyan, where Vikram’s sister dies because a liquor shop owner sells liquor on a dry day.

OK, how does Dasavatharam incorporate it?

In essence, Dasavatharam talks about eight characters who are inconsequential as such, but are integrated in a larger picture. Without Bush, the plane would have been called back. Without Shinghen, Govind would be dead. Without the tsunami, the world would have been destroyed. Even Krishnaveni (the old woman) plays a very important role. If she had not put the vial in the idol, maybe Govind would have recovered it then and there and a powerful weapon would have been unleashed. The very fact that it went into the idol meant that it was being accelerated to its destiny. Without Kaifulllah Khan, Govind would have never escaped… the list simply goes on.

OK, so does the film talk about theism or atheism?
Neither. It talks about how humans drive the destiny of the world.

The idol that is drowned in the sea along with Rangarajan in 12th century by Chozha king results in a fault being developed at the bottom of the ocean and creates tremors more than 800 years later. These tremors result in the Tsunami. This again is a classic case of Butterfly Effect wherein a seemingly inconsequential event (the drowning of the idol) saves Tamil Nadu from being wiped off the face of the earth.

Now tell me, does THIS movie lack a story? This movie has the most beautiful story ever attempted in Indian cinema. Unfortunately, Indian viewers and critics are obsessed with the “boy meets girl” and “revenge” themes, so they fail to see the story in this master piece.

All i can say is this movie rocks in terms of storyline and arts. The cast was superb and lyrics of the songs just captivating. I m not going to argue what you ppl are writing on top, its just a waste of time for me. Anyway its just a movie that describe india in the 12th century. That was history so you have to learn from it and do not repeat the same mistake. There is only one god only humans are differentiating them.

    55. Anonymous

Sriram Gopalan, that was indeed a good translation excepting for the last the bit about the time (Samayam)….. samayam is a word in this context means the different sects.. like shivai-sm, vaishnav-ism, budh0ism … etc… so the writer means to say that if you see (realise) Thee (the only one real existence), automatically these sects become non existant…

      People,
I did go through the posts here, and am unable to understand what point some (those talking about the story author’s or the song writer’s intentions were…) of you are trying to make..

Like any other movie or a book , this movie also depicts a story, expresses a collection of opinions from all the people involved in making it (though majorly of the author of the story). Like the movie did, I understand that we all are expressing our own opinions on the subject. So far so good… but, some of you seem to be trying to reason if what is said in the movie is right or wrong.. by saying ‘it could have avoided’ or like saying ‘ the song author could have not written these’ etc…

The nature of what is being dicussed here is very abstract where a general consensus could not be arrived at … this is true from the start of any civilisation of any kind… (and I suppose it will be the case until end of any and all civilisations). So, even if the authors meant to say that
      1) There is no such thing as GOD / Almighty (super power) or
      2) That such a thing do exist and is called Vishnu and vaishnavism is the only path to salvation or
      3) The others (of other religions and other sects of the same religion including the Shivaites ) are still in their infancy of knowledge about that one thing of real existence… GOD or
      4) Any other damn thing ,

it is all his/her/their voice(s) of opinions, which I believe that he/she/they have a right to express, as much as we have our rights to accept, deny or whatever… But at the end of the day nothing is gonna change (just because one opinion here was accepted by a majority of you/we people here on this discussion forum, does not mean that the truth has been found or established as truth to be accepted by others)… This will remain an abstract / relative thing and is open (will always be) to people forming and expressing their own opinions !

So, why waste time trying to win a game that will never end (for that matter why even continue playing…. may be it is ok to play ‘coz it is interesting) ?

All in all it is a just a movie made for commercial purposes (business) and some exhibited their beliefs through the characters in the film. It is the same as thousands of forums here on the net which discuss the same subject with different views being expressed. NO DIFFERENT.

As far as I’m concerned, when I was in the cinema hall watching this movie
      1) I did not realise the time (3 hours) go by
      2) I did not feel like going back home half way through or take a cigarette break.. oops not a socially acceptable habit – ok.. I’ll change it .. a coffee break , because I felt bored inside
      3) I didn’t feel like I wasted my money, on the contrary I thought the ticket money was well spent (good value for it)
      4) I had a chance to listen to the opinions of the authors, but it will not influence my opinions (which of course is irrelevant in this context) in any way
      5) I felt that Kamalahasan has taken utmost pains to do all his roles, justifiably well, as much as his efforts in building up the story to bring all these characters together.

And lastly, the makers/authors of the movie along with exhibiting ‘shivaite’ fanatics in the 12th century, also exhibited scenes where the ‘PerumaL’ vigraham was being thrown about as a play thing, and the same vigraham being hidden in the sand which earlier Asin had asked if Kamal did pee on it to make it wet.. etc .. So in general I feel there was no mal intention to hurt any particular sect of people following a particular set of beliefs…..

      I rest my argument.

      Om, Namo bagavathe Rudraaya…
Namaste Rudra manyava uthotha ishave namaha
Yatha ishush shivathama shivam baboovathe dhanuhu….
Shiva sharavvyaa yaa thava thayaano Rudra mrudaya

      Om.. Agnaa Vishnu Sajoshema vinayarthuthamgiraha….
      Dhyumnayir vaaje biraahatham…

Happy watching the movie and listening the song.
      Cheers.

    60. Durga

At the outset, I am a Saivaite. Anyone, irrespective of Vaishnavite or Saivaite, preaches his own religion and never gives up his religious ethics. Coming to the movie, the song sequence is based on the event happened in 12th century. Religious people, who have seen the movie, may agree to the fact why the lyrics of the song are expressive about Vaishnavam. According to me, the song is composed very well and there is nothing to criticize or comment about it. After all, Dr.Kamal Hasan, beyond being a versatile actor, knows very well about his role played in a movie. So, let us all become unite and comment only on songs emphasizing violence, vulgar etc. rather than commenting on a song like this. Thanks for reading.

    61. Lakshmi Narayanan

      Dear All,

There is a controversy prevailing about the first 20-mins of the movie “Dasavatharam” which picturises shaivities -vaishnavites war during the 12th century and Raja Kulothunga Cholan II orders to immerse the idol of “Govindarajan” (Lord Vishnu) in the sea. Those who had seen the movie might be able to recollect the scene.

But as per the original history Raja Kulothunga Cholan II wants to renovate the temple and removed the idol of “govindarajan”, so that the renovation of the temple would be easily done. I had found a wikipedia article which briefs about this incident.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kulothunga_Chola_II

After reading this article, it will be clear that it is an unnecessary to show such a scene that would raise a controversy between brahmins.
Pls note that the said temple of “govindarajan” is one of the 108 divadesam and the idol is still there since 12th century.

Truly, a great song excepting for a bit of contradiction regarding the singer’s (character’s) feelings..

Starts of by establishing his stature as a Vaishnavite… Ashta Aksharam Aerkum Nenju Panjaraaksharam Paarkathu…
and finally towards the end… sort of reahing a compromise … Theivam Endru Paarthaal Samayam Kidaiyathu…

May be this contradictive compromise is even justifyable / acceptable at that stage (when he knows his end is near)

Hence, this is indeed a song written well, sung well, composed well and picturised well. What more can be expected of a moive song?

Movie is just ok.. songs and lyrics are excellent.. Kamal could have done maybe 2 roles instead of 10 roles…Lots of logic mistakes in the movie…Also Christian Flethcher was paid to retrieve the bio weapon.. so his mission is the retrieve it..But in the end he eats it like an idiot, for what. He is not a terrorist.. he was just working for money.. no logic at all..
